K. Kannan, J.—The petitioner''s challenge in the writ petition is the assignment of the sixth respondent''s seniority above him and giving him a promotion. The basis of the contention for the petitioner is that the seniority will be determined at the range level and the petitioner belong to Ferozepur range and the sixth respondent who belonged to Ludhiana and having been brought to Ferozepur subsequent to him, his seniority at Ludhiana could not have been transported to Ferozepur range as well. The relevant provision regarding seniority for Armourer will be counted from the date of passing of Armourer basic course. The sixth respondent although brought from a different range had passed the basic course on 17.9.2005. At the time when he was brought to Ferozepur range he had a pass in the basic course while the petitioner passed subsequently on 23.10.2005 only. Even if he had come from another range since he has passed the course earlier as per the relevant rule, the seniority could be only counted from the date of passing of the basic course. The sixth respondent was correctly placed in his seniority above the petitioner and promotion granted to him cannot be justifiably challenged in the writ petition.

2.

The challenge to seniority position and the promotion are not tenable and the writ petition is dismissed.
