Judgment
The petitioner is called upon to pay a sum of Rs.36,749/- towards the one time tax payable under the Motor Vehicles Taxation Act in respect
of a vehicle purchased by him. He seeks orders permitting him to remit the said amounts in convenient instalments.
Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner as also the learned Government Pleader. Having regard to the facts and circumstances of the case
and the orders passed by this Court in identical writ petitions, I deem it appropriate to dispose of the writ petition permitting the petitioner to pay
the amounts demanded in six equal monthly instalments, the first of which shall be paid within one month. Ordered accordingly. It is, however,
made clear that if the petitioner commits default in remitting any one of the instalments, the State will be at liberty to realise the amounts due in
lumpsum.
