The present writ petition was preferred inter alia praying for issuance of necessary direction upon the respondents to take immediate decision on the

basis of a representation of the petitioner dated 15th May, 2017. In the said representation it was inter alia stated that in spite of an order dated 21st

August, 2017 passed in an earlier writ petition, being W. P. No.21650(W) of 2017 appropriate steps were not taken against the Pradhan and Upa-

pradhan, Jalaberia â€" I Gram Panchayat (in short, the said Panchayat).

Mr. Hossain, learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that upon hearing the present writ petition this Court by an order dated 13th

February, 2018 directed the respondent no.3 to be personally present before this Court on 26th February, 2018 to explain the steps taken by the

authorities in terms of the order dated 21st August, 2017 passed in the earlier writ petition. Mr. Deb Roy, learned advocate appearing for the State

respondents submits that pursuant to the said order dated 13th February, 2018 the respondent no.3 was duly present on 26th February, 2018.

He further submits that pursuant to the order passed in 2 the earlier writ petition the respondent no.3 directed the respondent no.5 to take appropriate

action including initiation of criminal proceedings against the Pradhan of the said Gram Panchayat by memo dated 12th February, 2018 and pursuant

thereto, the respondent no.6 by a memo dated 17th February, 2018 instructed the Officer-in-charge of the Kultali Police Station to lodge an FIR

against the said Pradhan and accordingly, Kultali Police Station Case No.102 dated 17th February, 2018 was registered and proceedings were initiated

against the Pradhan under Sections 409/406/120B of the Indian Penal Code.

A report to that effect filed by the respondent no.3 be kept on record. As pursuant to the orders passed by this Court appropriate steps have already

been taken by the respondents on the basis of the complaint lodged by the petitioner, no further order is required to be passed in the present writ

petition. It is expected that the police authorities shall take appropriate steps and conclude the investigation expeditiously.

With the above observations and directions the writ petition is disposed of. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Urgent photostat certified

copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties, upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
