In the additional affidavit filed on behalf of the Archaeological Survey of India ("ASI"), it is stated that to allay the apprehensions and fears expressed in certain quarters, the ASI as well as the Ministry of Culture are closely monitoring the safety of "Taj Mahal". Further, on receipt of its report in May, 2011, the Survey of India has been requested to once again review the entire issue in a scientific manner. Pursuant thereto, a team of Survey of India has reported to the ASI that another round of geotechnical survey of the minarets of Taj Mahal has been started from 24th November, 2011 and a detailed report would be submitted within a month or so from the date of completion of their investigation/survey.

2.

In light of the said affidavit, we defer hearing on the issue, relating to the safety of "Taj Mahal" and its minarets, to 8th February, 2012 by which time the Survey of India shall submit its report.

3.

The Secretary, Ministry of Culture, is permitted to file affidavit in the meantime.
