S. Siri Jagan, J.—The petitioner''s grievance in this writ petition is that he is being denied promotion on account of the disciplinary proceedings initiated against him. According to the petitioner, the proceedings against the petitioner have been initiated as per Ext.P1 dated 26.2.2008 and more than two-and-a-half years have elapsed since then, although the petitioner submitted his written statement of defence immediately thereafter. The petitioner, therefore, submits that either the petitioner should be considered for promotion notwithstanding the disciplinary proceedings or the disciplinary proceedings may be directed to be completed within a reasonable time.

2.

Having heard the learned Government Pleader also, I dispose of this writ petition with a direction to the respondent to complete the disciplinary proceedings against the petitioner, as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within four months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this judgment. Appropriate action as directed above shall be taken on the basis of the certified copy of this judgment to be produced by the petitioner before the respondent.
