By order dated 06.05.2021, this Court had passed certain directions to the jail authorities. In compliance of the said order, a short counter-affidavit

has been filed by Mr. A.P. Anshuman, Inspector General of Prisons, Uttarakhand.

According to the counter-affidavit, as of 08.06.2021, 2813 inmates have been vaccinated so far. The remaining inmates shall be vaccinated in a

systematic manner, and at a rapid speed. However, as the vaccines are not presently available, inoculation programme is progressing slowly.

Moreover, the High Powered Committee had met on 17.05.2021. The Committee considered parole of 106 convicts, and interim bail application for

685 under-trial prisoners. Out of 106 convicts, 92 were granted parole by the Committee. The next meeting of the High Powered Committee is

scheduled to be held in June 2021.

With regard to the E-Mulakaat, the Inspector General submits that by letter dated 06.05.2021, all the jail Superintendents have been directed to

convene the Video Conferencing through E-Mulakat, or through any other portal. By letter dated 07.05.2021, the Chairman of the Bar Council has

also been informed that, in case, the prisoners wish to have conference with the Advocates or the family members, they can use the facility of E-

Mulakaat.

Therefore, the directions issued by this Court have been duly complied with. Hence, no further direction needs to be issued by this Court.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
