Judgment

Case has been heard through video conferencing on account of COVID-19 Pandemic.
Today Lawyers are abstaining from work.
I am taking up this petition in the interest of justice, as the life and liberty of the petitioners is involved in the present petition.
This petition has been filed by the petitioners under Article 226 of the Constitution of India directing respondents No.2 and 3 to protect their life and
liberty at the hands of respondents No.4 and 5 on the ground that they are major and got married on 02.12.2020 against the wishes of the parents of
petitioner No.1. They are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at the hands of private respondents No. 4 and 5.
The petitioners have already given representation dated 02.12.2020 (Annexure P-5) to respondents No.2 and 3 to provide them necessary protection.
However till date, no action has been taken by respondents No.2 and 3 on their representation (Annexure P-5).
In view of the above, direction can be given to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur to look into the matter and decide the
representation (Annexure P-5) in a time bound manner.
Accordingly, this petition is hereby disposed of with direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur, to examine and decide
the representation dated 02.12.2020 (Annexure P-5) moved by the petitioners, in accordance with law, within a period of 7 days from the date of
receipt of a copy of this order, and if necessary, to provide adequate security to the petitioners to protect their life and liberty at the hands of
respondents No.4 and 5.
Nothing expressed hereinabove would be construed to be an expression of any opinion with regard to validity of marriage of the petitioners.
This order shall not have any effect on any civil or criminal action to which the petitioners may be found liable under the law.
