Present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for directing respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life and personal liberty of the petitioners by providing police protection to the petitioners as both are living in live-in-relationship and not to harass the petitioners illegally at the behest of private respondents. Further directions be issued to private respondents not to interfere in the peaceful life and liberty of the petitioners and not to harass them illegally or forcibly.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that petitioner No.1 is unmarried whereas petitioner No.2 is married. He submit that petitioner No.2 has filed a divorce petition, which is pending adjudication before the Family Court at Palwal. He submits that both the petitioners are living in live-in-relationship and have sought protection to their life and liberty. They apprehend danger from the private respondents. The petitioners have submitted a representation dated 20.11.2024 (Annexure P-5) to respondent No.3.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Sumit Jain, Addl. A.G., Haryana accepts notice on behalf of the State.

Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of the petition with a direction to respondent No.2 i.e. The Superintendent of Police, Palwal to decide the representation, if any, is filed by the petitioners within one week from today and grant them protection, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. It is clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them. This order would not be understood having expressed any opinion whatsoever by this Court on the validity of their live-in relationship.
