The petitioner has approached this Court seeking issuance of directions to the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner as he apprehends threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.5 to 9, who are pressurizing him to withdraw his complaints which have been submitted before respondents No.2 and 3.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that although a representation dated 21.3.2023 (Annexure P-9) had been submitted by the petitioner to Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh, but to no avail.

Notice of motion.

At this stage, Mr. Rajiv Vij, Addl. P.P. U.T. Chandigarh has put in appearance and has submitted that the representation submitted by the petitioner shall be considered in accordance with law.

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and also the learned counsel appearing on behalf of U.T. Chandigarh, and without commenting anything as regards the merits of the assertions made in the petition, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh, to get the representation dated 21.3.2023 (Annexure P-9) examined as regards the alleged threat perception of the petitioner in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is genuine threat to life and liberty of the petitioner, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon.

A copy of this order along with copy of representation dated 21.3.2023 (Annexure P-9) be sent to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh, for necessary compliance.
