Rajesh Bindal, J.—The landowners are in appeal before this court against the award of the learned court below passed u/s 18 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (for short, ''the Act'') seeking enhancement of compensation for the acquired land.

2.

Briefly, the facts of the case are that the State of Punjab vide notification dated 21.2.2000 issued u/s 4 of the Act, acquired land situated in the revenue estate of Village Mauli Baidwan, Tehsil and District Mohali, for development as Sectors 76 to 80 in the Urban Estate of S.A.S. Nagar, Mohali. The Land Acquisition Collector (for short, the Collector), vide his award dated 17.5.2001 assessed the market value of the acquired land. Dissatisfied with the award of the Collector, the landowners filed objections. On reference u/s 18 of the Act, the learned court below determined the market value of the acquired land @ Rs. 19,85,700/- per acre. It is this award which is impugned in the present appeal.

3.

Learned counsel for the appellants did not dispute the fact that the learned court below has awarded compensation to the landowners while relying upon judgment of this Court in RFA No. 3004 of 2006 Surjit Singh vs State of Punjab and Another decided on 2.3.2009. In the aforesaid appeal, the compensation was determined by this court for the land acquired vide same notification.

4.

Considering the fair stand taken by learned counsel for the appellants, the present appeal is dismissed.
