1.

Petitioner is the accused in CC.410/2018 pending before the Judicial First Class Magistrate's Court, Nilambur. He is a police constable aspiring promotion. Due to the pendency of the case his promotion is not being considered, so that direction for expeditious disposal of the case is the limited prayer in the O.P.

2.

A report was called for from the court. The learned Magistrate in the report, dated 08.10.2021, has stated that there are 26 witnesses in the case and seeks ten months' time for disposing the case.

3.

The case is of the year 2018. There may be older cases pending before the Court. Considering the restrictions in the functioning of the courts in the background of the pandemic, ten months' time sought is only reasonable. Therefore, the learned Magistrate is directed to try and dispose the case within a period of ten months from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.

The O.P.(Crl.) is disposed of as above.
