Short reply on behalf of respondents No. 1 and 2 has been filed today. The same is taken on record.

Present petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking the release of the arrears of the pension from 01.06.2007 to 30.04.2018 along with interest.

Learned counsel for the petitioner argues that the petitioner has not been released his pension from 01.06.2007 onwards till 30.04.2018 and that too

without any valid justification and, therefore, the respondents be directed to release the pension from 01.06.2007 to 30.04.2018 along with interest.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of respondents No. 1 and 2-Union of India submits that appropriate orders for the release of the pension of the

petitioner for the period in question has already been passed by the competent authority on 25.11.2020 (Annexure R-6) and the same has already been

conveyed to the Chief Manager, Punjab National Bank, Sector-17, Chandigarh. Learned counsel for the respondents No. 1 and 2 as well as

respondent-Bank submits that the arrears of the pension, in pursuance to the Approval dated 25.11.2020 (Annexure R-6) will be released by the Bank

within a period of four weeks from today.

Learned counsel for the petitioner prays that the petitioner is also entitled for interest.

The claim of the interest is being disputed by the respondents on the ground that nothing has been shown by the petitioner to show that the delay in

release of the pension for the period in question is attributable to the respondents. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner will file a

detailed representation claiming the interest along with the proof showing that the delay in release of the arrears of the pension is attributable to the

respondents entitling him for the grant of interest on the amount of arrears of pension, which is being released to him now in the year 2020.

Learned counsel for the respondents submits that in case any application/representation is received from the petitioner claiming interest, the same will

be disposed of within a period of three months from the receipt of the same by passing appropriate speaking order.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in view of the above, no grievance of the petitioner subsists at this stage and the present petition be

disposed of having been not pressed any further.
